SoBro Getting Some Greenery

Hunts Point in the South Bronx is getting $30 million worth of projects under a South Bronx Greenway plan announced yesterday that includes bike paths, tree-lined medians and even a kayak launch. There will be a waterfront park with a floating dock for boaters and kayakers, a new path to connect Hunts Point to Randalls Island, bike and pedestrian lanes and community gardens. Construction to start next summer and finish in five years. It's part of a 10-year plan with 1.5 miles of waterfront walkways and 12 acres of new waterfront open space. No word on how this all works with the new jail that's proposed nearby, but we're sure that if it's built, it will be landscaped so it blends with the all the new Hunts Point greenery.
