21 Stories of Glass Coming to Coney Island

Looks like a 21-story glass-looking building is coming to the eastern edge of Coney Island near Brighton Beach. Coney blog Kinetic Carnival posts the rendering above of the luxury condo that's going to rise at 271 Sea Breeze Avenue. The building is north of Asser Levy Park and promises views of the water, not to mention an excellent vantage on the New York Aquarium and Thor Equities project. The building is being called The Sochi after the Russian resort city on the Black Sea. Units will be one- to three-bedroom with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and there will be a health club, tennis courts, indoor pool, etc. The developer is the Bobker Group, which is also developing the property dubbed "Lake Windsor" in the South Slope, for that coming full circle sense of irony. The property sold for $13.8 million in June.
