In Chelsea these days, all is development. Here's one that's been on our radar for a few months but that we haven't posted about before: 246 W17, an 11-story condo development rising between Seventh and Eighth Aves. There are to be 31 units in the building, pricing for which has yet to be announced.
The development's official website brings usability to a new low, forcing a giant Quicktime video upon us. It's almost worth enduring just to see the two Brokebackesque cowboys jumping up and down on the roof at the end. This seems to be part of the condo's marketing campaign, which blogger Crazy Fingers notes is wallpapering the neighborhood with family-friendly advertecture. Still, he offers this happy tidbit: "What caught my interest about the building is the way they're preserving the facade and structure of the building that was originally on the site. It's new construction in the form of a vertical enhancement."
