In the end, it just wasn't meant to be for Staten Island and NASCAR. Sure, they'll blame it on the traffic concerns and complex politics, but we all know the headlocks weren't helping any. So what's to come of all those unused acres on the northwest tip of the island? The International Speedway Corporation says they'll explore other uses, which probably means the construction of the biggest middle finger sculpture of all time.
