Residents of the Avalon Chrystie may have to wait for their organic fruits and veggies but at least they will be able to go for a swim. The Villager reports that the YMCA and community center in the building is set to open March 1:
Under the plan crafted for the Cooper Square Urban Renewal site, the project had to include a community center, which AvalonBay Communities, the building’s developer, built and fully equipped at a cost of $14 million, then gave outright to the settlement house and YMCA, which will jointly own the space. It may not be Whole Foods, but it should give the residents of the Avalon a reason to happy. Actually, who are we kidding, they'll probably find something to complain about.
