Notable closing news from the Lower East Side: 71 Clinton Fresh Food, the restaurant that kicked off the Clinton Street dining renaissance back in 2000 with chef Wylie Dufresne at the helm, is slated to close next month. Andrea Strong reports that the lease will either be resold (owners of the Cowgirl Hall of Fame have their hat in the ring) or it will go back to the landlord, who is trying to sell the building.
Meantime, over in Nolita, the flagship store of Japanese pillow-purveyor Mogu is also closing up shop. Further evidence that chain stores are better off sticking to Soho? NikeID, how's tricks?
