A chunky, mysterious 19-story condo tower (rendering at right) is set to touch down at the corner of West 72nd and Broadway in the next two years, according to an RKF retail listing, written up by CityRealty, and touched upon recently in this space. It'll feature four levels (!) of retail glory and will replace the site's existing six-story building with a rounded corner (circa 1930). Not too much else is known about the place: "Attempts to reach the developer and Mr. [Robert K.] Futterman by CityRealty.Com were unsuccessful. Details about the developer, the number of units and the architect were unavailable." And call us crazy, but the building bears more than a passing resemblance to a certain enigmatic Ted Hughes character.
