Development Du Jour: LIC's Badge of Honor

Believe it or not, there are developments being built that aren't in DUMBO or on Bond Street. For an example we look to Queens, at Long Island City's new Badge Building on 47th Avenue. This eight-story condo building has 44 one- and two-bedroom units ranging from 722-1320 square feet, many with home offices. There's an indoor parking garage and storage units, and?but of course?private rooftop terraces equipped with water and electricity are for sale (though the views on July 4th are priceless). The apartments have all the usual fancy kitchen and bath amenities, and the penthouses get upgraded to a SubZero fridge and an additional wine cooler. The lobby has a "rusted steel entry portal," which we'll take to mean a door. Prudential Douglas Elliman is marketing the building, and the units are not yet for sale. Looks pretty good, but the exterior design and private cabanas remind us a bit too much of 70 Washington. You see? It always comes back to DUMBO.
