Following up on Tuesday's visit to housing court, there comes good news for anyone who's ever attempted to stick it to the Man: You know, withhold rent money as a bold statement against injustice suffered by renters everywhere or something. If approved, a settlement with First Advantage Corp. could get the company to expunge certain renters' names from the blacklist that many landlords use to screen potential tenants, "if they can document the case was meritless or brought in error." Some wronged renters may even get $100 checks for their trouble. This episode kinda reminds us of that "permanent record" we used to fear in grade school. Could that big scary manila folder still be floating around somewhere, thwarting us at every turn?
