Is it Paris—or the planned remade truck bays at the current New York Times Company HQ on West 43rd Street? The latter, or so claims the NYT, which reports on plans by new building owner Tishman Speyer to convert the gaping bays to primo retail space when the Times moves into its new Renzo Piano tower next year. "That a printing plant in Times Square should become a shopping center 'tells so much about the organic change of the city,' said Robert B. Tierney, chairman of the landmarks commission." Because nothing says organic like another Cartier outpost.
