We're starting to fear for the safety of old-school Manhattan grocery chain D'Agostino. First the University Place outpost bit the dust, soon followed by the Stuy Town location. At the time, we jokingly asked, "Should we start a grocery store deathwatch?" Uhh, apparently we should have. Comes word from a tipster: "The D'ags on 23rd between 8th & 9th is closed. They weren't doing any business, with Whole Foods a block away, their high prices and really rude staff." Well, with wonderful features like that, this truly comes as a big shock. Looks like another notch on your bedpost, Whole Foods.
