The story on the toxic sludge standing in the way of the Gowanus-area Whole Foods sure is a slippery one. Just the other day we were made to believe that the new market at Third and Third wouldn't be ready until the fall of 2008, but now The Real Estate is reporting that "groundbreaking for construction should begin in two and a half months, with a completion date in about 14 months," putting the opening squarely in '07.
Meanwhile, those intrepid Observers (via the Brooklyn Eagle) are also mumbling about another potential Whole Foods at Metrotech Center, but there's not enough free-range, antibiotic-free meat on them bones yet for any sort of celebration.
