Celebrity Real Estate Wrap: Plaza Sells One

1) Formula One racing magnate Flavio Briatore, best known to American audiences for having sex with all of the world's supermodels, is one of the few non-Russians to scoop up a pad in the converted Plaza Hotel. He's paying $25 million for what will be a 5,000-square-foot home with sweeping park views, five bedrooms, five bathrooms and "ample public rooms." Briatore bought a 4,500sf apartment in One Beacon Court last year for $11 million. [Braden Keil/Gimme Shelter]
2) Page 6 overheard Joaquin Phoenix telling a producer in Beverly Hills that he's been apartment shopping in Tribeca, and that he needs "a good real estate agent." That gust of wind you just felt was 10,000 female real estate brokers diving for their BlackBerrys. [Page 6]
3) Here's one for fans of literary fame. Lands End (right), the totally perf mansion in Sands Point that may have been the inspiration for Daisy Buchanan's pad in The Great Gatsby, may be leveled to make room for a five-house development on the waterfront property. A developer bought the whole shebang for $17.5 million in 2004, and the clock might be ticking on the 94-year-old Long Island estate. Insert commentary on American dream, oh, let's say here.
