Today, New York drops another installment of VU, its real-estate-porn-mag-inside-the-regular-mag. Beyond the usual dish of "classic 14s" and penthouse dreams, our eyes alight with glee upon S. Jhoanna Robledo's investigation of Tribeca's Skylofts at 145 Hudson.
Back in January, we reported that due to misfiled building applications, the entire roofline of the new development would have to be torn down. New York enlarges on the story, mapping out a bunch of new details including interviews with aggrieved buyers and word that indeed, the penthouses will have to be redone ("the penthouse will be dismantled to make way for an acceptable—that is, less visible—replacement"). It's a tale of post-9/11 development desire turned 20-foot-high penthouse ceiling angst—and, for anyone thinking of buying into a pre-construction new development, essential reading.
