Development Du Jour: One Avenue B

What does the loss of the Great Manhattan Gas Station bring us, other than out-of-gas cars stalled on the shoulder of the FDR? Why, new residential developments like One Avenue B, fronting Houston Street where the Gaseteria once plied its greasy trade. We'd noted this "white gloves" building last fall, but now a neighborhood tipster emails, "The sign went up yesterday as well as the obligatory flash website—opening fall/winter 2006. Add another 'one' address to your list." That rendering—just, wow. (N.B. cool flip-book of neighborhood photos on the website, if you're especially bored of this universe.)
