Live from Ratnerville, Dean St. Demolition Porn

Develop Don't Destroy's Daniel Goldstein knows how to get our attention: send an email with the subject header Demolition Porn and attach a bunch of photos of the work underway this week at 461-463 Dean Street in Ratnerville. (A tad masochistic? We love him for it.) Says Goldstein, "We lost our case to stop the demos. We appealed, and the appellate decision has not come down yet. Could come any day but since there was no TRO it is quickly becoming moot. No independent engineer has been allowed to inspect the buildings on the inside. And Ratner's engineer never swore to his report in court, no sworn affidavit from the engineer, just his report. But the burden on us is too great, we had to show that the ESDC did not use a rational basis in their decision to declare the buildings in a 'state of emergency.' The courts defer too much to the state agencies. Voila."

BONUS: Atlantic Yards Report notes an interesting NYT correction today: "[Gehry's Atlantic Yards project] is on rail yards and other land in Prospect Heights and on a block in Park Slope; it is not in Downtown Brooklyn, although it is near that neighborhood." Noted for the record.
