Staff at the Brooklyn Friends School, located in the shadow of the expanding "New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge," apparently sent out a "BFS E-Flash" this morning. Emphasis is our tipster's ... we think the school's, it turns out.
Based on a recent incident of construction material falling from the hotel development site, WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY MUSS CORPORATION (THE DEVELOPER) THAT ALL PEDESTRIANS SHOULD AVOID USING THE SIDEWALK AND STREET AT THE END OF OUR BLOCK. Instead, please approach the school from Willoughby Street. Please note that this is a precaution to protect our children and students. We can just see those kids as grandparents saying, "Back in my day ... we had to dodge flying hotel-construction debris just to get to school."The developers anticipate completion of the exterior work on the building in approximately two weeks, at which point all work on the project will be internal. As an added safety precaution, the construction crane will be dismantled in June following the end of the school year.
