Yes, that really is a paddlewheel riverboat docked at the foot of Atlantic Avenue at Pier 6 in Brooklyn. Specifically, the Casino St. Charles (“Casino to the World”). Before you make a dash from OTB to the Brooklyn waterfront or cancel that trip to Foxwoods, however, you should know the St. Charles is sans gambling paraphernalia.
The boat is owned by Circle Line, which eventually plans to turn it into a catering hall. It was docked for a long time next to Ikea’s Todd Ship Yard property in Red Hook and was a familiar sight on the Erie Basin. It got the boot early this year and will be evicted again from Pier 6 by Brooklyn Bridge Park (once litigation concludes and construction starts). No word on where it will dock next.
