Soho may have its 40s (40 Bond and 40 Mercer), but now the Financial District can cozy up to a pair of 20s, as plans to convert 20 Exchange Place (right) into apartments (luxury rentals, likely) join the outsized likes of Shvo and Armani's 20 Pine nearby. Things are still early for this latest bank-building conversion, but developers Nathan Berman and Yaron Bruckner?who also redid 63 Wall St. into luxe rentals, now known as The Crest?scored a big leg up this week in the form of $210 million in Liberty Bonds for the project at 20ExPl. Look for 366 units to fill most, if not all, of the 56/57-story skyscraper between William and Hanover streets. In the meantime, check out Rion.nu's glossy closeups of the building's ground-level detailing. Locks, planes, ships, owls, swans: yum!
