Some are calling the new Forté Condo now under way on a triangular plot in Fort Greene at Fulton St. and Ashland Pl., the Flatiron Building of Brooklyn. We'll just call it a pretty big high-rise going up in Fort Greene. The spawn of The Clarett Group, the Forté also has a newly minted web page (with appropriately slick logo, but no info at the moment). The tower at 230 Ashland Pl. will hit 28 stories, have 108 condo units, and give audiences at the Brooklyn Academy of Music something to look up at during intermission. (Pardon the excessively, um, red rendering, but it's lifted from a montage of Clarett developments.) The Forté is one of more than a dozen major projects (not counting Atlantic Yards) under way or planned near the Flatbush Avenue corridor. Forté's immediate neighbors include BAM's Harvey Theatre, and of course, it's just a short walk from One Hanson.
An architect told the Fort Greene Courier that even though the building is bigger than the neighboring "brownstone fabric," the glass tower will include "limestone-looking" concrete bands around each floor. No on-site parking, though.
