Totally awesome random rumor of the day comes from Intelligencer, which asks: did Giuseppe Cipriani pull out of his winning plan to develop Chelsea's Pier 57 into an Italian wonderland (above) because of feared links to supposed mob ties? Verdict: unclear!
And meantime, what's next for the dockside redevelopment? Also unclear! Per Intelligencer, "Cipriani’s departure has left the majority partner on the Leonardo deal, developer Steve Witkoff, scrambling to find other tenants to occupy the space, which until recently was used as a bus depot."
