Prospect Lefferts Gardens: Closer Than Post Thinks

[Photo from Planet PLG's slideshow of a recent nabe house tour via Brownstoner]

The Post today spotlights that Brooklyn nabe across the park with the mouthful of a name, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, or just PLG, if you will. Relatively cheap townhouses abound, and small studio co-ops can be had apparently for the downright Midwestern price of $125,000. At least one thing's missing, though:

There are currently no condos in Prospect Lefferts, although some are slated for development. One, called the Hawthorne, will be located in a pre-existing brownstone. The small, seven-unit luxury building is scheduled for completion next year.Meanwhile, a blog in the neighborhood takes up with the article's assertion that "it's all a half-hour subway ride to downtown Manhattan on the Q train." Writes Across the Park: "If it takes you 30 minutes to get to downtown Manhattan from PLG, then your commuting strategy is seriously flawed. We clock the ride to Canal St. at 15 minutes." Whoosh!
