Jefferson Market Facade Work Happening, But Not Fast

[Photo by Flickr user Boss Tweed]

The Central Village's landmarked Jefferson Market library branch (above) is slated to get some much-needed exterior restoration, says this week's Villager. But you better get used to seeing that scaffolding on the 1877 ex-courthouse building, because the project won't be done until at least 2009 at this point, according to current timetables. Approvals still need to be made, plans need to be drawn up, etc. At least we can say there's no advertecture gumming up the site at the moment. Then again, perhaps that's what a cash-strapped institution like the N.Y.P.L. needs (OK, we kid).
