Now that sex-related establishment have gotten the zoning squeeze, are Big Macs and Whoppers next? Say it ain’t so. City Council Health Committee Chair Joel Rivera wants to bar McDonald’s, Burger King, Dunkin’ Donuts and other fatso food chains from locating near schools, among other things. Rivera says that there are too many fast food place in low-income neighborhoods and that limiting them would curtail the growth of waistlines. Given the rearrangement of the porn business after rezoning, does this mean a Big Mac Attack on Brooklyn Heights? Curbed has learned that another faction is urging a zoning war on Starbucks because the frappuccinos are gut busters.
