While we're still waiting to hear about a potential throwdown at old P.S. 64, it's worth noting that the Landmarks Preservation Commission went ahead and christened two water-themed (and less controversial) attractions, perhaps in honor of splash season. First, the Orchard Beach bathhouse and promenade (above) out in Pelham Bay Park, once (still?) known as the "Riviera of the Bronx." (Um, yeah.) And second, the Astoria Park Pool in Queens (below, photo via LPC). Yeah, we know the photos are not the best you've ever seen: all the more reason to head out and shoot the newly minted landmarks.
