OK, so it wouldn't be as painful as, say, the transit strike this winter, but if the local crane operators' union decides to strike, it'll supposedly bring most work at "1,000" construction sites around the city to a screeching halt, according to a contractors' group official. On the positive side, the New Yorker staff's views of Bryant Park will be preserved just a little bit longer.
