Far Upper West Side Gets in the Downzone

Behold anew Ariel East and Ariel West, bringing 30-something-story living to the upper reaches of the Upper West Side. Behold them because they may well tower over the neighborhood, alone with each other, for years to come. Reports the Sun:

In a unanimous Tuesday evening vote in front of hundreds of community residents, Community Board no. 7 passed a resolution that, if made into a law, would prevent any new developers from building above 125 feet on Broadway and above 75 on other streets in the area. The affected area is bound by 97th and 110th streets and Riverside Drive and Central Park West.Bad news for those crazy kids at 808 Columbus, no?
