Catching a Fairway Resentment in Red Hook

It was bound to happen. The new nirvana of Brooklyn foodies, aka the Red Hook Fairway, is ticking off some of its neighbors. In addition to neighborhood unhappiness about the woman run down and killed by a shopper leaving the Fairway, we’re hearing reports that neighbors in the Beard Street Pier buildings (which house more than five dozen businesses) are angry about all the trucks at the end of Van Brunt Street. They also say the street, which is like an outdoor loading area for the store, smells like rotting garbage because of Fairway flotsam marinating in the heat. A tipster tells us two neighboring businesses are moving out. Picky. Picky.
