The Village Voice's Power Plays blog has visuals of the denuding crews spotted this morning on the roof of the old P.S. 64 (aka the former CHARAS/El Bohio building). We've been waiting for this kind of throwdown ever since last month when developer Gregg Singer, who's envisioning a 19-story dorm at the site, promised to start hacking away at the facade despite the landmarking that occurred June 20. Color from the scene: "On Tuesday morning, workers could be seen drilling into P.S. 64's ornate dormer windows and terra cotta trim." Click through for a Fred Durst sighting, more shameless archi-carnage, and the latest dirty details of this East Village battle.
