Sweet Miracles on 34th St.

As anyone who has walked out of Penn Station into that glorious mix of department-store tourists, cheap cameras, and sweet roasted peanuts knows, it was only matter of time before 34th Street became "It." Today, the moment has arrived, according to Crain's Julie Satow. The top draw is the Moynihan (above), but there's also Apple, and big residential plans. Regarding the latter, SL Green is planning to use its air rights at 21, 25-27 and 29 W. 34th to build a hotel or residential development, and another developer has something large in mind for 213 through 223 W. 34th.

"Forty-Second Street is a major cross street where almost every big name developer owns a site," one developer told Satow. "The same thing is on the verge of happening on 34th." God help us all.
