The Boom in Parks and the Green That Pays for Them

After taking on the decrepit state of New York City's power grid, water system and other inner workings last week, the Gotham Gazette weighs in this week with two long tomes on New York City parks. One article looks at plans to renovate three open spaces: Washington Square Park, Hell's Kitchen Park and the ominous sounding Gas Tank Park in Elmhurst. The other piece notes the many parks that are proposed or being built and looks at how parks are financed, using Brooklyn Bridge Park, which would be paid for with highrise waterfront development, as its poster child.
