Last month, we passed along word of a row of trees being razed outside The Cheney on West 23rd Street to clear the vista for a giant adwrap. Now, BlogChelsea posts the first before-and-after images we've seen of the carnage (above).
A BlogChelsea commenter adds to the intrigue: "I live in this building and am also furious. The truth to this story is that after the ad agency put the sign up, they saw that the trees covered the ad….so….at 7:00 AM one SUNDAY morning they came and cut the trees down!!! Obviously ILLEGALLY !!! The doorman heard the sound and rushed out to stop them but they had already cut some of them down. He ran back inside to call someone and they cut the rest down."
