And so the news today of the passing of another Times Square bargain, the Portland Square Hotel on West 47th (above). Tom Acitelli reports that developer Hank Freid will drop $7.5 million to turn it into a new luxury hotel called Sanctuary. Rates from $265/night to $1,800 for the duplex penthouse; compare and contrast with Portland Square's top rate of $189/night. And repent.
