CurbedWire: Tribeca Throwdown

1) Tribeca: CB 1 has a lot on its plate these days. First there is that little hotel project by that little developer, and now the battle continues to stop Buster's Garage (the bar that nobody loved) from getting a new space. A local reports, "The residents of Leonard and other surrounding streets in Tribeca are mobilizing for tonight's Community Board 1 meeting to try to defeat liquor license application for Buster's Garage Sports Bar's planned move to 24 Leonard Street." Let us know what goes down. [CurbedWire Inbox]

2) Upper West Side: A tipster informs us "things are moving ahead along Columbus Ave at 97th Street. They demolished one of the old store buildings. I guess they are moving ahead with construction on their new tower." [CurbedWire Inbox]

3) Long Island City: A reader checked out Arris Lofts and noticed "that while they got the 10 year abatement, it won't kick in in the first year because they delayed filing some paperwork. I think it works like this: Year 1: Pay full property taxes. Years 2-11: Pay the abated rate. Year 12: pay 20 pct full property tax rate. Year 13: pay 40pct full tax rate, and so on till you get to 100 pct. I'm no serious buyer, just a local LIC resident wondering if the gap in the abatement is going to hurt the sales, especially since the surrounding area still lacking in many, many services." Ah, that age-old abatement-delay question. Any takers? [CurbedWire Inbox]
