Development Du Jour: The Chelsea Stratus

Work has quietly begun on the Chelsea Stratus, a mega-condo building that, at 40 stories, is poised to become the tallest tower in the neighborhood of towers. A tipster reports, "Walking out of my office today I noticed a bridge sign on a building on 6th Ave. It's under construction, huge building I thought was going to be a rental."

The Stratus website give no details, except the premonition to "Watch the skies for Chelsea's tallest building." However, the Real Deal uncovers more details, including features like "a ground-level entertainment area with media lounge, billiard area, fitness center and basketball court, along with ground-floor and rooftop terraces designed by landscape architect Thomas Balsley. The rooftop terrace will feature a dog run." It should be ready in Spring 2008, when (for $1,200 per square foot), you can declare, "I Live in the Chelsea Stratus."
