Eater Tastings: No Love for Texas

Inside Varietal in Chelsea. Early reports suggest "aggressive" pricing on the expansive wine list. Photo by Kalina. BONUS Inside: 15 East in Union Square and Death & Co. in the East Village.

More of this week's goodness from Curbed/SLNY restaurant blog Eater...

1) Plywood: Vinh Nguyen, Vietnamese master, has been sighted in Williamsburg. His place, Silent H, is reported to open in February. No pho.
2) Dish: Caffe Falai, the Soho sister of Clinton St.'s Falai, is open. Breakfast will be served. Meanwhile, Black Pearl, the seafood shack formerly hidden in the EVill bar Julep, now has a place of its own in Chelsea. Go for the lobster rolls.
3) Deathwatch: Just four months after opening, and a mere two months after its Bruni no-star review, Lonesome Dove is sad and empty.
