Downtown Doings #2: FiDi May Get a Little Wet

Now that the Financial District has a new supermarket, the basic essentials of a residential neighborhood are covered?so let's get crazy! Per the Villager, the Parks Department has unveiled its plan to turn the traffic triangle/death trap at Fulton and Gold Streets into a public green space complete with waterfall. The Fulton Street corridor is undergoing years of improvement work, and DeLury Square Park would be the capper. Sure, the Parks Department must still purchase a piece of land from the Southbridge Towers co-op and undergo a land-use review process?not to mention deal with concerns about young ruffians?but the target is a 2009 completion. Prices at nearby District have already been raised an extra $500/sf.
