This week, Time Out New York unleashes its Home Design issue, and there's plenty of fun stories to get floorplan junkies excited?like, for example, three architects taking on the same 300-square-foot room. What caught our eye was this funky 450-square-foot Red Hook one-bedroom, which two Pratt architecture graduates have turned into a live/work space. They had more important priorities than sleeping (like, say storing their "collections of antique cameras and typewriters"), so the bedroom is now the office. Here's the cool/depressing part: They carved a "sleeping area" into the living room using recycled paper and 2x4s, and it contains only a futon, plant and alarm clock. Talk about suffering for your art!
