Fact: TEN Arquitectos' Enrique Norten is a highly-regarded, very successful architect. Also fact: One York, his condo project just below Canal Street, is a bust. Now, the building can sell as many $20 million apartments and come up with as many gadgety gimmicks as it wants, but the truth of the matter?and we will not argue this?is that One York, with its glassed-up main building buttressed by rebuilt faux-warehouses, is bland at best, and fugly at worst. And before we're accused of so harshly judging an unfinished product, take a look at the original rendering (which we've placed after the jump for those who need refreshing). All that's left is more glass. Believe us, we wanted this to turn out well. But guess what? It hasn't.
