Gowanus Whole Foods (Site) Still Open to Public

New, 5 comments

The construction fence around the vast (and somewhat toxic) Whole Foods site in Gowanus that came down more than a week ago is still down, and the property is attracting a steady flow of curiosity seekers unafraid of the alphabet soup of toxins said to be underfoot. The store was supposed to open in 2008, but barring a construction miracle, it's looking like 2009 is the year the year vegan donut holes come to Gowanus. In the meantime, one can always wander the property and try to figure out where the organic baby bok choy will go and imagine an Apple cube there if Whole Foods falls through. Us, we washed off our sneakers after the photo tour just to be on the safe side.
