Trick or Treat #6: Ellis Island Measle Hospital Finale

Actually, even though this is mondo creepy, this photo and others from local photoblogger Nathan Kensinger are part of a bigger real estate development story. It's the South Side of Ellis Island, which will eventually be redeveloped, possibly to include some sort of hotel. For now, though:

This part of the island once housed contagious, pregnant and psychotic immigrants. It was home to isolation wards, measles wards, the morgue and an operating ampitheater, all connected by a series of linked passageways. These buildings have been "vacant and deteriorating" for the last 53 years...Is EllisSouth Condo or the Ward B&B coming soon?
