One Moment on That Washington Square Park Redo, Please

New, 9 comments

Yesterday we noted the pending court decision in the last remaining Washington Square Park renovation case as well as the possible revving of bulldozers in the background waiting to start work. Not so fast. The ruling has been delayed until tomorrow and the Parks Department has decided the construction equipment will sit idle until at least 7AM on Monday. The lawsuit is trying to get the Parks Department to produce an Environmental Impact Statement before the plan can go anywhere. The original budget for the full renovation was $16 million, but now Phase One alone is $12 million.
