Setbacks Galore at Future Whitehall Condo Building

New, 7 comments

The Whitehall Storage Building at 150 Charles Street was one of two sites left out of the Great Far West Village Downzone of 2005. The other, the Superior Ink factory, has already revealed all, and now the Villager reports that developer the Witkoff Group is planning to begin construction on the Whitehall project next year. Residents feared a tear-down and a new 32-story tower, but they'll be getting a Cook+Fox designed 15-story condo building on top of the existing warehouse. No renderings floating around yet, but the Villager's Patrick Heglund describes it thusly: "The building will also feature a series of setbacks above the existing four-story structure, according to the developer, including an initial setback of 30 feet. Ten four-story townhouse units will fill the former industrial space." Anticipation: building.
