Red Hook Gets a Huge Parking Lot with Cranes

New, 8 comments

Things are clearly moving along in Red Hook at the site of the new Ikea, where the grounds of the old Todd Shipyard definitely seem to be looking a lot more like Paramus or Elizabeth than Brooklyn. Note the way the old shipyard cranes (on one of the piers that will likely be chopped up) provide a nice backdrop for the newly placed sod, planted trees, roads and walkways.

Another view of Ikea's back side, where the parking facilities are being readied.

A close up toward dusk. The lighting fixtures are similar to the ones used in Long Island City and on the waterfront esplanade behind Schaefer Landing in Williamsburg.

An up-to-date look at the front of Ikea on the Beard Street side, in its blue-and-yellow glory.
