Curbed Cup Second Round: (3) Williamsburg vs. (11) Coney Island

New, 42 comments

The Curbed Cup, our annual award to the New York City neighborhood of the year, for the past three years has been determined by reader vote. This year, we're upping the ante with a 16-neighborhood elimination tournament spanning the month of December. We've now moved on to round two in our quest to determine the neighborhood that most defined New York, for better or for worse, in 2007.

Yesterday's Recap: We knew the Long Island City posse would come to play, and come to play they did. Although the favorite, #2 seed West Chelsea, held an early lead, LIC battled back quickly and held on through the end, advancing to the semifinals with a convincing 54.2% of the vote. The neighborhood will take on the winner of today's matchup...
Today's Matchup: It's a Brooklyn beatdown, as the big bully from the northcountry, #3 seed Williamsburg, squares off against the Coast with the Most, #11 seed Coney Island. We can honestly say we have no idea which way this one's gonna go. So, uh, let's find out?
