Can anyone say "fast tracked?" The new landmark district in Dumbo will be up for a vote before the Landmarks Preservation Commission today. The district includes more than 20 blocks in Dumbo and there's a been a strong push to put the district in place. It would run from John Street in the north to York Street in the South, Bridge Street in the east and Main Street to the west, taking in a lot of historic Dumbo structures, some of which might be in the bull's eye for development. It's an especially big day for the Dumbo Neighborhood Association, which has been pushing for the designation for more than seven years. There are 91 buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries in the district. A City Council vote to approve the designation is expected to be a formality.
