Scarano #2: Bond Street Bunker Slowly Gets Woody

New, 8 comments

In the world of interesting architectural additions, the block straddling Carroll Gardens and Gowanus that intersects at Bond and Carroll Streets has sort of won an architectural lottery. It has not one, but two recent designs by architect Robert Scarano. Number One, of course, is the Carroll Gardens Hell Building. Number Two is the one we like to think of as The Bunker because it shows so much wall to the world. It's one of the slower construction jobs in South Brooklyn, but The Bunker has slowly been adding some of that hallmark Scarano wood to its exterior. We especially appreciate the way the building embraces the holdout house on the corner.
