HOBOKEN?From across the Hudson River comes this compelling image of the headless clock tower. The tipster that sends it our way says "Think they're refurbishing this thing and haven't capped it off yet." [CurbedWire Inbox]
MIDTOWN?First, the Times building shed some glass today, now others are buildings are falling victim, not to mention potential passersby. A reader emails to say: "A window popped out of the 44th floor at 1345 Avenue of the Americas. It fell down on the 55th street side, which is now completely closed. No news on whether anybody was injured." Be careful out there. [CurbedWire Inbox]
SOHO?In the Never Say Die Department, opponents of the Trump Soho Condo Hotel are not saying die. The Soho Alliance has sent out a press release telling the world that it is asking the NY Attorney General to "order the Trump SoHo condo-hotel project to amend its Offering Plan...The amendment would require the offering plan to state that there is a legal appeal to the Trump project, namely, the recent SoHo Alliance appeal to the NYC Board of Standards and Appeals seeking to revoke the building permit of the project for zoning violations." The building may be gaining floors by the week, but SoHo Alliance executive director Sean Sweeney says that it could "throw a large monkey wrench in Trump's marketing plan" and that "if Trump thinks we just fell off the pumpkin truck, he is in for a rude awakening."
