The Apple Bank Building on Broadway and West 73rd Street, already home to a thermostatic nightmare and the epic foyer to end all epic foyers, now has its sights set on America's pastime. Baseball? On the hoity-toity Upper West Side? Indeed. Via press release, Apple Bank selling agent Brown Harris Stevens has announced that The Baseball Center NYC will operate Manhattan's only indoor baseball and softball training facility in a 15,000-square-foot space in the building. In fact, it appears to be open already. The way it gets pitched (heh.) as a condo amenity is a little weird, though:
"If you want to ensure registration for your children into the highly coveted baseball leagues at The Baseball Center NYC, your best bet may be to purchase one of the six remaining residences at The Apple Bank Building,” said Karen Duncan, Director of Sales. So if your kid absolutely sucks at baseball, you can still buy his way onto a team by just shelling out around, oh, $5 million or so. That does sound like the Upper West Side!
