CurbedWire: Burg Building in Bondage, London NYC Hotel is Booming, Bigger Coney Island Meetings to Shut Down

WILLIAMSBURG?The building on Grand Street that would be a Building Collapse Betting Pool candidate were it not already in the process of coming down and braced out the wazoo, got even more wood to hold it up this week. The reader that happened upon it for the first time and sent the photo writes, "Well, it took me a minute to get my head around what I was looking at here as I walked past this site on Grand St and Driggs today. Upon closer inspection it seems pretty obvious that the side wall of the building wants to fall completely over and is being held up with gigantic Legos. Luckily there are people inside the building working. WTF." Upon further consideration, we think its best to cross the street no matter how much bracing is holding it up. [CurbedWire Inbox]

MIDTOWN?It sounds like a dramatic afternoon at the London NYC Hotel today. Per a reader email: "Giant booms and intermittent puffs of smoke and steam coming out of the top of the London NYC Hotel on 54th street. Workers out on top of the building." [CurbedWire Inbox]

CONEY ISLAND?After getting its last meeting at a small auditorium shut down by protesters paid for by a State Senator's campaign committee, the Coney Island Development Corporation isn't taking chances. It sent out a press release today about three mega-meetings on January 7 and 8 at a much larger auditorium. They're just public presentations of the Bloomberg Adminisration plan, not part of the land use process. That fun starts later in the year. [CurbedWire Inbox]
